Cycle 1, Day 18 – 6 August 2026

How to turn a side effect of an aggressive cancer therapy into a beautiful bonding experience or hi there I’m bald now.

The hair issue was ultimately resolved rather quickly in the form of two of my closest friends taking turns wielding a razor, preparation consisting of a brief scroll down the TikTok search page, and a celebratory Pizza feast al fresco afterwards.

I did not expect the shaving itself to raise any particular emotions and it did not. Emotionally, I feel exactly the same as I did before going bald.

This existence in which we find ourselves is constantly changing. Yesterday I was healthy and had unremarkable hair. Today I have cancer and am bald. Tomorrow I could be anything or nothing at all.

The same is true about all of those thoughts that cause us so much trouble. Try catching one and see if you can hold on to it. They come and go without ever affecting the mind that sees them, like waves on the ocean. When I say I am the same as I was before my head was shaved, this is what I mean.

However, what I did experience today was intense, profound love for the people around me. I do not know what I did in previous lives that created the karma that brought me into contact with them, but they are without a shadow of a doubt the most precious thing in my life.

People have at times described me as brave or strong. I don’t know about that, but what I do know is that I am surrounded by love and that makes everything in life easy. All that I am is because and for them.

May all of you always be happy and healthy. I’ll see you soon.
